My Princess Has Been Reborn: Chapter 17

Chapter 17 – What the hell kind of sister is she

Ultimately, Lu Qipei still saw Lu Qicheng’s injured face. The long gash ran from the corner of his eye to his jaw, spoiling this young man’s face that was once as beautiful as jade. Moreover, it had been many days but fresh blood was still flowing out. One could see that this wound would leave a scar in the end.

But honestly, it was just a gash and Lu Qicheng wasn’t a girl either. Lu Qipei didn’t understand why he would go crazy because of this.

Anyway, regardless of what the reason was, Lu Qipei had never thought of accompanying him in being injured and then ruining herself because of it —— she understood far too well the distance between her position and Lu Qicheng’s in the Lu family. Even her own personal maid who had always been by her side could personally poison her to death under Lu Qicheng’s instruction. Now, it was just ruining her face. Lu Qipei believed that the people of the Lu family would carry out their young lord’s orders without hesitation!

Thinking of this, even though she wasn’t sure if she could escape when she had just returned, Lu Qipei knew that the Lu household was not somewhere she could stay for too long. But if she didn’t escape, was she supposed to stay and let herself be butchered by them?

Lu Qipei turned her head, lips pursed and eyes squinted, looking at Lu Qicheng with some ruthless determination in her gaze.

The things that followed after went much more smoothly. After all, Lu Qicheng had broken his leg and recently, because of how his facial wound was not healing, he was feeling very depressed and couldn’t even have the heart to eat or drink. He was very weak so the tyranny he had shown was only on the surface and he had hence been easily knocked unconscious by Lu Qipei, then dragged back onto the bed. She acted like nothing happened and let him continue sleeping.

In the end, even though he had shown his malicious intent towards her not just once and she had long since been thoroughly disappointed by him, Lu Qipei still didn’t have the heart to kill her younger twin brother. She still wished to do her best to solve everything in a peaceful way.

Unfortunately, today, Lu Qipei was destined to be unlucky —— with much effort, she had moved Lu Qicheng back to the bed and arranged him properly. She hadn’t properly decided on how to erase herself from this incident yet when she turned and unexpectedly saw Qi Bo standing at the entrance of the room! Who knew how much he had seen?

Lu Qipei’s heartstrings instantly tightened, not only because she felt guilty but more so because of fear.

Yes, Lu Qipei feared Qi Bo. Even though this old butler always abided by etiquette in front of the two siblings, some people just naturally made others fear them. Whether it was his strict control over them when they were younger or the methods he used to maintain control when they grew older, as well as the faintly revealed unknown forces behind this butler, it all made Lu Qipei instinctively want to stay away from him.

It was precisely because she did not want to face Qi Bo that she had previously chosen to immediately see Lu Qicheng first. She had never expected that Lu Qicheng was now crazy and in the end, she wasn’t able to avoid Qi Bo’s interrogation —— looking at it now, she feared the things he had to interrogate her about had increased.

Lu Qipei pursed her lips even tighter, her strong eyebrows subconsciously creasing together.

Qi Bo did not even look at Lu Qicheng who was drowsily sleeping. His expression did not change at all. He just said to her, “The young lord’s injury still needs to be rested. The young lady should come out first.”

Lu Qipei took a deep breath and did not decline. The moment she lifted her foot, all her muscles tightened.

When the two people exited the room, they did not go far. In actual fact, Lu Qicheng’s courtyard was very quiet. Other than the two of them, there was no one else, not even a servant. Only, she did not know if it was really to let the injured person recuperate in peace or because they had been dismissed by Qi Bo.

In a short span of time, Lu Qipei had thought about a lot so she started speaking first, “A-Cheng seemed to have been agitated, I couldn’t control him so I could only knock him out first.” She paused before asking, “The wound on his face…can it be healed?”

Qi Bo gave her a deep gaze and did not answer directly, “The young lady need not be so worried. The young lord is the young lord, and you are you.”

The meaning behind these words was obvious. He did not plan on listening to the crazed Lu Qicheng’s instructions and actually put a scar on Lu Qipei’s face. However, these words also confused Lu Qipei because right before she died in the previous life, she understood that she was simply someone raised to help Lu Qicheng by substituting him. But since she was just a substitute, how could the two of them not be the same?

Lu Qipei’s eyes flicked. She did not dare to let Qi Bo see it. She only frowned and said, “I naturally know this. A-Cheng is also just temporarily unable to accept it so he spoke nonsense. When he sobers up he will also understand that it shouldn’t be done.”

Thinking back to the deranged Lu Qicheng just now, these words sounded naive. However, this was also the magnanimity that an elder sister should show, and it was what Lu Qipei would have said in the past. Thus, Qi Bo did not suspect anything. He just lowered his head, deep in thought.

Lu Qipei did not know what he was thinking about but the temporary silence still caused a tense atmosphere. She hence only waited a moment before speaking again, “Qi Bo, how is A-Cheng’s injury, you haven’t told me.”

Qi Bo’s train of thought was interrupted but he was not annoyed. However, when Lu Qicheng’s injury was mentioned, a rare expression of worry showed on his face, “The young lord’s leg was broken by a fall but after the doctor’s treatment, it’s not a problem. It healed after some time. Only, the injury on the young lord’s face…the young lady has seen it. I’m afraid this injury was plotted by someone else, it will be difficult to heal.”

This was what worried Qi Bo the most. He obviously knew that the injury on Lu Qicheng’s face was plotted by someone but he was unable to find out who did it, when they made a move, where they made a move, if the problems occurred after treatment —— he knew nothing!

This sort of feeling was like there was an enemy hidden in the dark, staring at you like a tiger, yet you had no idea…

Qi Bo felt extremely terrible but Lu Qipei could not help but come up with some conjectures. However, no matter how she guessed, she could not guess that Lu Qicheng’s injury was Qi Yang’s doing and she was even more unable to guess that right now, there were still spies in the Lu mansion shadowing them.

Qi Yang was also feeling terrible, she had already made preparations to leave the capital and chase that person for thousands of miles. Who would have known that that person would actually go one full circle and return to the wolf’s den!

Was the Lu mansion some dragon chasm or tiger den? No. However, to Lu Qipei, that place really wasn’t any good, because someone with a wolfish nature lived there and this person had a great influence on Lu Qipei.

Qi Yang did not know exactly what kind of mentality Lu Qipei had in the previous life to decide to help take the imperial examination in place of Lu Qicheng. She didn’t know what kind of mentality Lu Qipei had to discuss marriage with her but now that they were starting over, she obviously couldn’t let her make the same mistake again!

It was nighttime. The good weather during the imperial examination seemed to have been used up as a drizzle shrouded the whole capital.

In the Jingchen Palace, the lights did not go out for a long time. Qi Yang was standing before the window. The night breeze swayed the drizzle while the rain droplets fell over the eaves onto the ground. The candle flame behind her was also swaying slightly due to that night breeze…the lights flickered, her face cold.

At this moment, only Qi Yang was in the bedroom. Zhi Ting and the palace maid on duty had been dismissed by her much earlier on. However, the owner of the palace had not gone to rest so naturally, the whole Jingchen Palace was awake.

After an unknown period of time passed, the candlelight lightly jumped again.

Qi Yang turned and was not in the least bit surprised by the sudden appearance of a black-clothed person in the room. She only glanced at them emotionlessly and asked, “How is it?”

The black-clothed person was a spy working for Qi Yang. Qi Yang had been waiting for him for a long time —— if it were not for the fact that she had yet to build an official residence outside the palace and was thus not allowed to stay outside the palace overnight, at this moment she would have already gone to the Lu mansion in person to take a look.

Luckily, the news that the spy brought was not too bad. At the very least, it let Her Royal Highness sleep peacefully this night…

Two hours ago, in the courtyard of the Lu mansion, Qi Bo had entered Lu Qicheng’s bedroom again.

Lu Qicheng had only been knocked out by Lu Qipei in the late afternoon. At this moment, he had not been awake for long. He only felt that the back of his neck ached and his mind was hazy. He still faintly wanted to puke. Thus, since his body was seriously uncomfortable, the person who was gradually growing mad day by day was also feeling tired.

Seeing this kind of Lu Qicheng, Qi Bo could not help but feel irritated. He was annoyed that he did not have the power to protect his master, as well as that Lu Qicheng could not handle even the slightest blow. Only, ultimately, their positions were different so he never expressed his thoughts in front of Lu Qicheng. At this moment, he simply called, “Young Lord.”

Lu Qicheng held his head as he raised it. His gaze on Qi Bo seemed to be much calmer now, the whole person appearing to be much more proper too. It was just that once he opened his mouth, it was all different, “Qi Bo, you came at the right time. Quickly get someone to catch that bitch Lu Qipei for me! She actually dared to knock me out, I must definitely scratch that face of hers!”

Qi Bo could not help but frown upon hearing this. No matter how one looked at it, things like scratching someone’s face always felt like the kind of methods women liked to use. He once again felt disappointed in Lu Qicheng but only said tonelessly, Young Lord, that is your sister.”

Hearing this, Lu Qicheng laughed coldly and said in a condescending tone, “What the hell kind of sister of mine is she?!”

Qi Bo did not argue with him either, he only said, “Young Lord should calm down now and not let your emotions control you.” Lu Qicheng seemed to want to say something but he added, “You should know that the young lady still has much use.”

Lu Qicheng was extremely unhappy upon hearing this but he was ultimately still somewhat in awe of Qi Bo so he just used a lightly mocking tone to say, “As of now, I’m considered to be greatly ruined. What use would she have if she stayed?” He then suddenly paused, his gaze deep, “Unless her face was also ruined, then she can be like me…”

Qi Bo was even more disappointed in Lu Qicheng now but he would not show anything. He only said, “Young Lord, the young lady’s face cannot be destroyed! Since you are not willing to go to the frontline, then she will take your place and continue to go forward. Isn’t it better if you were acting behind her? Regarding the injury on your face, I will continue to invite renowned doctors to treat you. Even if it’s to no avail, we can look for easy methods to cover up the scar. It shouldn’t be too difficult.”

When Lu Qicheng heard the last part, his eyes lit up and he asked, still disbelieving, “Really?”

Qi Bo nodded, appearing as though he was not in the least bit annoyed, “Of course it is for real.”

Afterwards, the two of them discussed serious matters again, arranging Lu Qipei’s future clearly. Only, the two of them never noticed that their words had long since entered the ears of a third party who had later passed them to Qi Yang without missing a single word.

Qi Yang felt slightly more at ease upon hearing this but her focus was only on that one sentence of Lu Qicheng’s —— what the hell kind of sister of mine is she?!

The author has something to say:
Qi Yang (vexed): I’ve already made preparations to chase my husband for thousands of miles, but in the end she was dragged back into the wolf’s den…how unpromising she is
Lu Qipei (helpless): If I really ran thousand of miles away, where could you go to find me… therefore I must not be able to run away
